Seoul, Korea: Samsung Electronics started mass-producing its 256GB solid state drives (SSDs), which are targeted for use in notebooks and desktop PCs. The new SSDs more than double the performance rates of Samsung’s 64GB and 128GB solid-state drives.
Sequential read rates are 220MB/s, and sequential write rates measure 200MB/s. Erase cycles run 100GB per minute. In addition, the 256GB SSD is able to store 25 high-definition movies in 21 minutes.
