Nordic Semiconductor sports wireless IC

Sept. 29, 2005
Lowest bill of material in any portable 2.4GHz battery operated device plus the on-chip Link Layer logic simplifies firmware design.

Nordic Semiconductor says the latest device in its portfolio of 2.4GHz wireless ICs merges high speed with ultra-low power and cost. The nRF24L01 is designed for applications such as wireless desktops and intelligent sports equipment.

The chip is suitable for multimedia solutions like Voice over IP (VoIP) because of the MultiCeiver solution in which on-chip hardware supports up to six simultaneous wireless devices.

The nRF24L01 has been developed in cooperation with customers from various segments. The company claims that this solution should ensure the lowest bill of material in any portable 2.4GHz battery operated device available while the on-chip Link Layer logic simplifies firmware design.

In addition, few external components are needed and the ICs come in 20 pin 4x4mm QFN Package that is lead-free and RoHS compatible.
