Embedded: FPGA Toolkit Supports Hard And Soft Processor Designs

William Wong  |   ED Online ID #8376  |   July 19, 2004

Version 6.2i of the Embedded Development Kit (EDK) can handle the company's FPGAs, including embedded PowerPC processors as well as the MicroBlaze soft processor. It supports the Virtex-II Pro, Virtex-II Pro X, Spartan-3, and other FPGAs. The kit also incorporates new features like automatic Board Support Package (BSP) generation. The new Platform Debug facility enables advanced debug capabilities, including synchronized cross triggering of the GNU gdb software debugger from the company's ChipScope Pro embedded bus/logic analyzer. The EDK costs $495, including licensing for the MicroBlaze soft processor.
