The HMS current transducer from LEM S.A. integrates a primary conductor into a surface-mount package measuring only 0.630 by 0.531 by 0.472 in. The device operates from a single 5-V supply. Four standard versions cover nominal ac, dc, pulsed, and mixed isolated current measurement of 5, 10, 15, or 20 A rms, up to 50 kHz, with a measuring span of up to ±3 times IPN. A version for through-hole mounting will be available shortly.

The internal reference voltage (2.5 V) is provided on a separate pin or can be forced by an external reference (between 2 and 2.8 V) to allow cancellation of thermal drift. Gain and offset are fixed so that at IPN the output voltage is equal to REFIN or REFOUT ±0.625 V.

The HMS employs a LEM ASIC designed for use with open-loop Halleffect technology. The result is better offset, gain drifts, and linearity, as well as a wider operating temperature range (–40°C to 85°C) compared to traditional discrete technology.

Kavlico's P4100 board-mount pressure sensor features a quick-disconnect fitting that eliminates the cost of redundant air hose adapters, fittings, and reducers. Designers can specify a variety of port sizes, including 5/32, 3/16, and 1/4 in., among others. The robust sensor comes in pressure ranges from 0 to 15 psi to 0 to 300 psi, gage or absolute. It runs on a 5-V dc supply and provides a linear amplified voltage output, proportional to pressure, of 0.5 to 4.5 V dc. Contact the company for price and availability information. The low-power LIS202DL two-axis linear accelerometer from STMicroelectronics addresses a wide range of consumer and industrial applications, from motion-activated user interfaces to vibration monitoring. Smart features embedded in the accelerometer include click and double-click recognition, motion-detection/wakeup, and high-pass filters. The unit's digital output through a standard SPI/I2C user-selectable interface makes system integration easier and more effective. The LIS202DL comes in a 5- by 3- by 0.9mm LGA-14 plastic package and is available in ±2-g or ±8-g acceleration ranges. The devices are available now for $3 each in quantities of 10,000. Two versatile and multirange-selectable temperature transmitters from Omega Engineering Inc. are especially useful in process control, automation systems, energy source management, oil applications, paint and spray painting, and equipment maintenance. The TX33, with a loop-powered RTD input, is an analog, non-isolated device with a twowire head-mount that converts the RTD into a proportional, linear, and very accurate output current. The TX31 is an analog miniature transmitter with an isolated two-wire headmount that converts a thermocouple input to a voltage. The TX33 costs $95.00 and the TX31 is $185.00.
