Zensys has selected the Kilopass Technology’s XPM one-time programmable memory technology for use in broadband wireless remote home-control applications. Zensys is using the XPM memory to store network and application data. The memory will hold a secure serial number that identifies each radio node in the network.

Kilopass noted that Zensys, the developer of the Z-Wave wireless home-control standard, chose the XPM for its wireless mesh network (a communications network made up of radio nodes) because XPM uses a small die area, is easy to implement, and has low manufacturing costs. “Kilopass’ XPM technology allows us to contain our costs and add new features to our SoCs,” said Niels Thybo Johansen, vice presdient of R&D at Zensys.

The Z-Wave mesh network and the RF system-on-chip (SoC) technology for broadband wireless home-control applications bring affordable, reliable, and easy-to-deploy wireless home control to every aspect of daily life—the home environment, consumer electronics healthcare, and energy management—to create a “connected home.” Z-Wave’s interoperable wireless mesh networking technology allows a wide array of devices around the home to communicate, including lighting, appliances, HVAC, entertainment centers, and security systems.
