You Say You Want a Revolution, You'll Find One In OVP

By Simon Davidmann, President and CEO, Imperas Ltd.

"You say you want a revolution? Well, you know . . . we all want to change the world."

John Lennon penned that opening line of The Beatles' "Revolution" in 1968. And it's just as relevant now as it was 40 years ago. The electronics industry stands on the threshold of an era of creative innovation as it rushes toward multicore system-on-a-chip (SoC) design.

Implantable Materials and Advanced Ceramics

The aliphatic polycarbonates created by Cornell chemist Geoffrey Coates are safe and strong enough to be used in medical implants and devices. They're also used as extremely effective binders for the creation of non-oxide ceramics, which are often used as components experiencing high compressive stresses such as cam rollers in diesel engines, valves, seals, rotating parts and wear plates, abrasive powder blast nozzles, cutting tool tips, and more.

European Research Yields COCONUT Fruit

A European research project coordinated by the University of Verona, Italy, hopes to define a formal framework based on tight integration of design and verification through all the refinement steps of an embedded-platform design flow. The project, which spans specification through logic synthesis and software compilation, also aims to propose a modeling and verification flow that enhances and speeds up embedded platform design and configuration.

Webinar: Wireless Sensor Networks—A Survey Of Design Options
Presented by Winland Electronics Inc.
April 30 @ 2 pm ET

Developing a wireless sensor network can be an awesome challenge or a simple matter of picking the right module, depending on who you ask. Off-the-shelf solutions have certain advantages, but may not be the best overall solution to your problem. Home grown or custom solutions can be designed to overcome specific challenges, so they can be critical for certain projects.
