The latest release of Intusoft’s ICAP/4 Spice-simulation suite includes enhancements in waveform-creation capabilities as well as in automated component conversions. Build 3247 of ICAP/4 8.x.11 is also reported as having had the fewest bugs in Intusoft’s history during the company’s testing cycle on the revision.

ICAP/4 Build 3247 features enhanced piecewise-linear (PWL) waveform creation capability by way of mouse or file input. As an alternative to typing in several time and value data points to create a PWL signal, a graph (grid) can be clicked on to arbitrarily place data points using the mouse. Once complete, the waveform can be modified by clicking anywhere on the graph to make the waveform conform to newly selected points. Further, a bounding box can be drawn around any portion of the waveform and dropped to a new area on the graph as the waveform takes on a new shape. Alternatively, the selected portion can be deleted. PWL waveforms can also be instantly created through a text file of data points, quickly performed by dialog entry.

Build 3247’s new automated component-conversion capability enables generic devices, and many real parts placed on ICAP/4’s SpiceNet schematics, to be instantly converted to similar real devices. Such components are conveniently categorized by description and part number in a dialog viewed by clicking the targeted device on the schematic. The timesaving feature accommodates a wide variety of resistors, diodes, capacitors, inductors, BJTs, JFETs and MOSFETs. By merely pressing a “replace” button the targeted part is instantly replaced with the new device for circuit simulation.

ICAP/4 8.x.11 Build 3247 starts at $995; contact Intusoft for availability details.
