Expect New Consumer Electronics Devices Thanks to TLM 2.0

By Bill Neifert, Chief Technology Officer, Carbon Design Systems

I’m a typical technology-obsessed engineer. I could walk for hours through places like Tokyo’s Akihabara area exploring the latest and greatest consumer electronics devices. It can even be difficult to drag me out of the local big-name electronics store when the latest round of gadgets arrives. It’s always a thrill to see the new and fascinating ways that manufacturers have leveraged technology to create gadgets in an attempt to meet every human need. I’ve come across a few that meet some needs I didn’t realize I had until I saw the device that met them.

PXI System for Mechatronics

PXI (PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation) is a rugged PC-based platform for measurement and automation systems. PXI combines PCI electrical-bus features with the rugged, modular, Eurocard packaging of CompactPCI, and then adds specialized synchronization buses and key software features. PXI is both a high-performance and low-cost deployment platform for measurement and automation systems. These systems serve applications such as manufacturing test, military and aerospace, machine monitoring, automotive, and in this case, students enrolled in Lawrence Technological Institute's Master of Science in Mechatronic Systems Engineering program.
