Improve Backplane System Performance at 6 Gbps and Above

FREE White Paper. With an upgrade path to higher bandwidth capability in your sights, minimization of crosstalk in the backplane link is critical. Amphenol TCS connectors can deliver crosstalk up to 30 times lower at 5 GHz than previous generations, resulting in enough margin to meet future performance specifications up to 20 Gbps. Our high-speed, high-density connectors, XCede®, Crossbow™ and eHSD® meet and exceed the very latest IEEE 802.3ap standard for 10 Gbps serial data rates.

Lunar Robot Takes Working Vacation In Hawaii

By Richard Gawel, Managing Editor

The fall is a wonderful time to visit Hawaii—even if you’re a robot, and especially if you’re training to go to the moon someday. Next month, researchers from Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute, NASA, and other organizations will test their four-wheeled Scarab lunar rover on the rocky slopes of Mauna Kea. This dormant volcano, Hawaii’s highest mountain, will serve as a stand-in for the moon.

IBM and Mentor Graphics Team Up On 22-nm Computational Lithography

By David Maliniak, EDA Editor

Photolithography equipment has seen remarkable progress in recent years, with current immersion technology staying just ahead of the curve (with a huge assist from gains in reticle-enhancement technology). But it’s becoming increasingly apparent that so-called next-generation lithography is not going to arrive in time to prop up yields at advanced process nodes such as 22 nm.
