Based on E Ink Corp.’s Vizplex Display, the N510 from Hanvon is the world’s first 5-in. electronic book series, according to the company. In addition to the electronic paper display, the book includes an electronic pen input in an ultra-portable electronic book aimed at mass markets.

The N510 consumes very little power, has a paper-like appearance, offers 180° viewing, and is only 11 mm thick. The book supports TXT, HTML, PNG, JPG, PDF, XEB, CEB, MP3, and MTXT formats on its 167-PPI, SVGA (800- by 600-pixel) display. The device includes a 1-Gbit SD card and a mini-USB port.

Designed for outdoor use, the N510 features a sunlight-readable display in a rugged package. The display has no EMI-generating backlight/inverter. Users can input notes, edit material, and even paint electronically using Hanvon’s advanced digital input technologies. Support for MP3 provides users audio listening capability.

The N510 costs approximately 2000RMB ($250).
