Download Agilent White Paper: Improve Power Supply Performance and Safety Using Remote Sensing and Remote Disable
With longer leads, higher wire gauges, and testing being performed further away from the power supply, it is desirable to regulate the power supply using the voltage and current at the test point, rather than at the terminals. Power supply features such as remote sense and remote disable allow the power supply regulate its output and even shut down based upon what is happening at the load.

In-Circuit Programming Switch Simplifies Operation Of Programmable Devices

By Eric Schlaepfer, Maxim Integrated Products

Many devices require programming through a serial bus, such as I2C. The programming can be done during final test, after the circuit board has been assembled. In many cases, the pins used for programming can then be utilized for something else during normal operation. In fact, the bus itself can also be used for another function.
