For its SecPath high-end security systems, H3C Technologies employs IDT’s 89HPES48H12, a 48-lane, 12-port PCI Express system interconnect switch with an advanced architecture.

The PCI Express system’s architecture supports multiple simultaneously transactions between system processors and intelligent I/O peripherals. The device provides a guaranteed line rate throughput and deterministic latency. It enables the H3C Firewall/VPN system to support 40-Gb/s data throughput while simultaneously protecting a network from external security attacks and implement URL filtering and application layer filtering.

Additionally, the H3C security solution leverages the 89HPES48H12’s suite of features including integrated support for multi-processor failover to ensure system reliability and two virtual channels enabling direct support for quality of service.
