Low-Power Op Amps Combine High Performance And Low Noise

Staff  |   ED Online ID #21309  |   June 4, 2009

Designed for power- and space-constrained applications, the MAX9943 and MAX9944 high-voltage operational amplifiers from Maxim Integrated Products deliver superior precision in sensor signal conditioning, high-performance industrial instrumentation, and loop-powered systems, according to the company. Also, Maxim’s MAX9945 suits portable medical and industrial applications that require low-noise analog front ends.

The MAX9943 (single) and MAX9944 (dual) operate from a wide 6- to 38-V supply and consume 550 µA quiescent current per amplifier to minimize power consumption. They also offer 100-µV (maximum) input-offset voltage and 0.4-µV/°C offset drift. And, they provide a gain-bandwidth product of 2.4 MHz and are specified over the –40°C to 125°C automotive range.

The MAX945 features 15-nV/√Hz input-voltage noise density and 1-fA/√Hz input-current noise density, making it ideal for noise-sensitive applications. It operates from a 4.75- to 38-V supply and consumes 400-µA quiescent current. Also, it has a gain-bandwidth product of 3 MHz and is specified over the –40°C to 125°C automotive range.

The MAX9943 and MAX9945 are available in a six-pin thin dual-inline flat package (TDFN) and an eight-pin µMAX package. The MAX9944 comes in eight-pin TDFN and small-outline (SO) packages. Pricing starts at $0.75 for the MAX9943, $1.25 for the MAX9944, and $0.75 for the MAX9945, all in quantities of 1000 and up.
