The LVR series PolySwitch resettable devices, rated at 240 V ac, will find homes in line-voltage applications. These polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) parts permit maximum voltages of up to 265 V ac and are available in hold currents from 50 to 400 mA. Thermally active, they can help protect against both overcurrent and overtemperature faults on the primary side of power supplies and transformers. The LVR device was developed to help prevent damage to control boards and components by limiting current in the event of a load-side short-circuit or overdraw. Devices are available in straight-lead and kinked-lead configurations. Devices cost $0.15 to $0.25 each in 250,000-unit quantities.
