Available in 19 inductance
values ranging from 1.0 µH
to 1 mH, the 2900 and
2900L series of low-profile, drum-core, shielded, surface-mount
inductors from C&D Technologies are well-suited
to space-constrained applications. The models in
the 2900 series measure 7.2 by 7.2 by 4.0 mm. The 2900L versions have the same footprint but feature an overall height of just 3.15 mm. The components'
integral shield protects in systems where electromagnetic interference is a concern.
Current ratings (Idc) range from 6.0 A (1.0 µH) to 180 mA (1
mH) for the 2900 series, with slightly lower ratings—4.6 A to
140 mA—for the 2900L series. Operating temperature ranges
from –40°C to 85°C. Typical applications include low-power
line-filtering in consumer, industrial, and telecommunication
systems, including network hubs, bridges and routers, and
high-frequency wireless communication devices.
The inductors are RoHS and J-STD-020-C reflow-compliant
and use UL94V-0-rated materials in their construction. Their
tape-and-reel packaging lets users employ automated assembly
processes. Unit pricing for the 2900 and 2900L series is $0.32
in OEM quantities. Delivery is from stock to seven weeks.

Transformers
A series of gigabit discrete isolation-transformer modules includes the HX5200NL and HX5201NL dual-port modules and
the HX5400NL and HX5401NL, which manufacturer Pulse Engineering says are the industry's first extended-temperature-range
quad-port devices. Their –40°C to 85°C range suits them for
industrial and ruggedized Ethernet and military computer, telecom, and networking applications. The quad-port modules measure only 29 by 17.5 by 11 mm, and the dual-port versions are just
14.7 by 17.5 by 11 mm. The quad-port devices fit behind a 2-by-2
RJ45 connector, which eases board layout and reduces size. Contact the company for prices. Go to www.pulseeng.com
The models in the dual-transformer DSS-1000 series are MIL-STD-1553 devices available in ratios compatible with 3.3-, 5-,
12-, and 15-V transceivers. The transformers, from Beta Transformer Technology, target designs that need both short and long
stub ratios within one package or when a low-profile dual transformer is needed. The dual side-by-side design complies with the
MIL-PRF-21038 specification. The devices operate from –55°C
to 130°C and are available in tape-and-reel packaging. Contact
the company for prices. For details, go to www.bttc-beta.com
The Survivor line of Inherently Limited Class 2 transformers from Foster Transformer now includes a 100-VA model. Patented
short-circuit and overload protection techniques can withstand
direct shorts for more than 15 days. Survivor models come rated for
either 60 Hz or 50/60 Hz. Primary inputs include 115, 115/230,
and 200/230 V, with a 24-V output. Each device includes UL-recognized Class 130 (B) insulation. IEC-, EN-, and CE-compliant designs
are available. Alternate versions can be configured to meet specific
customer requirements. Contact the company for prices. To learn
