  • Build Precise V/F Converter

By Walt Jung, January 10, 2000

This Idea for Design was originally published May 13, 1993, p. 70. A single-supply, 5-V powered, voltage-to-frequency (V/F) converter can be built with low-power ICs and just a handful of passive components (...

  • Op-Amp Audio: Minimizing Input Errors

By Walt Jung, December 14, 1998

For this second December issue, the column looks at a number of op-amp issues regarding their use in high quality audio circuits. For now, this wraps up the series on this topic. As noted below, this final 1998 installment also marks my departure from...

  • Op-Amp Audio: Realizing High Performance: Bandwidth Limitations

By Walt Jung, December 01, 1998

For this November Analog Special installment, we'll take a look at some of the very basic issues surrounding op amps used within high-quality audio circuits. A parameter which ultimately affects a gamut of op-amp performance specs is device...

  • Readers Respond: Another Mailbag

This month, we'll take a look at some column mail that's accumulated since the July issue. While a variety has come in, most of it has been on the Linux column. Boy, is the Linux community ever a vocal one! Tons of mail, as below. Aug....

  • Op-Amp Audio: Realizing High Performance: Buffers (Part II)

By Walt Jung, October 01, 1998

Taking up where last month's column left off, here's the second part of our discussion on output-buffer techniques as part of audio op-amp applications. A flexible Class A buffer: To fulfill the function of the discrete version of...

  • Op-Amp Audio: Realizing High Performance: Buffers (Part I)

By Walt Jung, September 01, 1998

In this and the next few columns, we will take a departure from the immediate past, and focus some overdue attention on real circuits. We'll cover some op-amp issues related to realizing high performance in audio and other ac applications. This...

  • What's Best For Your PC?

By Walt Jung, August 03, 1998

In response to several readers' requests, this month we'll take a look at some of the pros and cons of engineering operations on a PC under alternative systems. One is the ubiquitous Windows operating system (OS), and the other is a UNIX-like...

  • Readers Respond: Another Mailbag

By Walt Jung, July 06, 1998

This month we take a look at some recent mail sent to this column. While a variety has come in, much of it has been concerned with computer-related issues. "Ouch!" you say? If you're worried that that means another round of computer hardware and tech...

  • Spice Programs: Computerized Circuit Analysis For Analog EEs

By Walt Jung, May 01, 1998

This month we follow up on the Feb. 9th column's general topic of Spice. We're also going to look at some of the programs available, and learning aids convenient to the analog-oriented EE. In the earlier column, the main focus was a couple of...
