Optic and OA Product Leader Selects PTC/POAKS Solution for Managing the Compliance with EU Environmental Regulations

South Pasadena, CA – October 11, 2005 – Pacific Oaks Technology (POAKS), a leading provider of green compliance management solution, today announced that Ability Enterprise Co., also known as Taiwan Canon – a leader in OEM/ODM optic products such as digital camera, has deployed the Green Component Manager (GCM) as the green compliance management solution across its enterprise in meeting the compliance requirements of several EU environmental directives such as RoHS, Packaging and Packaging Waste, and Batteries and Accumulators.

As an existing customer of Windchill system from Parametric Technology Corp. (PTC), Ability Enterprise selects GCM from POAKS as the green compliance management solution and selects Great Engineering Technology (Getech) as the system house to integrate GCM with Windchill. “GCM is truly the green compliance management tool that could quickly establish the corporate internal component material database and report the compliance status for each component inside the BOM on EU’s regulations such as RoHS, Packaging and Packaging Waste, and Batteries and Accumulators, and also the customer-specific requirements such as Sony ss00259 or Motorola W18.”, said Thomas Chen, Director of Green Solutions at Getech, “GCM’s web service interface gives us the ability to quickly integrate the data path between Windchill and GCM. The user could view the product BOM from Windchill and realize the compliance status of each component inside the BOM from GCM.”

“GCM’s ability of handling the same BOM in multiple locations enables Ability Enterprise to view the compliance status of the 2nd source parts inside the BOM, which may vary depending upon the production location.”, said Jon Wu, Vice President of POAKS, “Basically it is GCM’s ability to handle collaborative operations among different users at different locations, which is comparative and synchronized with the ability of PTC’s Windchill system.”

“Besides the reporting of compliance status for each component inside the BOM, GCM’s ability of scanning possible exemptions for components that fail to comply helps the user in deciding whether an exemption is possible or a replacement is required.”, said Thomas Chen, “It reduces the time of getting the company products into compliance with RoHS or other environmental regulations.”
