Electronic Design magazine and the electronics industry literally grew up together. The transistor was still just a newborn technology in search of its Killer App when the first issue of Electronic Design arrived in mailboxes during December of 1952. Through the decades, the pages of the magazine created an ongoing chronicle of a fledgling industry unfolding, as it surpassed everybody's wildest expectations. The Chronicles that follow in this Magazine section take us on a wonderful journey of fond recollections and treasured memories. Our intent is not to offer an exhaustive and detailed accounting of events. Rather, we hope you will enjoy our lighthearted stroll through the decades that shaped and defined the electronics industry and Electronic Design magazine. For both of us, our pasts, our presents, and our futures are irrevocably linked together for all time.
