Multi-dimensional Lifestyle TV Manufacturer Deploys PTC/POAKS Solution for Environmental Compliance Management

South Pasadena, CA – October 14, 2005 – Pacific Oaks Technology (POAKS), a leading provider of green compliance management solution, today announced that Hannspree Inc. – a leader in providing exotically styled and licensed flat-panel TVs, has deployed the Green Supplier Manager (GSM) and Green Component Manager (GCM) from POAKS as the green compliance management solution across its enterprise in meeting the compliance requirements of several EU environmental directives such as RoHS, Packaging and Packaging Waste, and Batteries and Accumulators.

Equipped with the Windchill system from Parametric Technology Corp. (PTC) as the product lifecycle management tool, Hannspree selects GSM as the portal to interface with all suppliers, and selects GCM as the green compliance management solution and integrates GCM with Windchill through PTC’s consulting services. “GSM fits into the Hannspree’s document control process perfectly. It provides the portal for suppliers to download green requirements from Hannspree and upload the green component documents such as survey form, lab test report and certificate of compliance.”, said Jon Wu, Vice President of POAKS, “GSM will then go through the approval process to make sure all necessary documents are provided from the suppliers. Notifications will be sent to the document control manager in Hannspree if any supplier fails to comply. Once the documents are approved, GSM will then forward the info to GCM, and GCM will process the submitted material and present the compliance status right away. The status will then be forwarded back to Windchill so all users inside the company could view and learn about the green status of each component used in the BOM. It truly streamlines the green compliance management under the scope of Product Lifecycle Management.”

“It is pretty common in EMS and CMs that the factories produce the same product are spreading in many places. GCM’s ability of handling the same BOM in multiple locations satisfies the requirements of validating the compliance status of the 2nd source parts inside the BOM, which may vary depending upon the production location.”, said Falcon Uang, Senior Technical Consultant of PTC, “the way GCM handles the collaborative operations among different users at different locations is the key in managing the green compliance for these EMS and CMs.”

“Besides the compliance requirements of RoHS, Hannspree also requires the products to go through the EU Directives of Packaging and Packaging Waste, and Batteries and Accumulators.”, said Jon Wu, “GCM’s ability of recognizing the packaging materials and batteries from the BOM, and processing such with special aggregation on the specified substances, allows Hannspress to validate the compliance status right away and make proper actions to correct the non-compliant events. It truly provides the green compliance management on Hannspree products.”
