Half-Bridge MOSFET Drivers Raise The Voltage Bar

By Staff

October 08, 2008

Introduced as the industry's highest voltage drivers for high- and low-side n-channel MOSFETs, the MAX15018 and MAX15019 feature a high-side pin that accepts input voltages up to 125V, versus the 105V rating of comparable devices. Pin compatible with the industry-standard HIP2100IB and HIP2101IB, the drivers ensure sufficient safety margins in telecom power supplies that withstand 100V or higher transient voltages. Both provide a 3A peak source/sink current, 35-ns propagation delay, and a 2-ns maximum matched propagation delay between drivers. Several versions are available with TTL- or CMOS-compatible non-inverting/non-inverting or non-inverting/inverting logic inputs. The logic inputs include protection against voltage spikes up to +15V regardless of the V+ supply voltage. Available in standard and thermally-enhanced eight-pin SO packages, prices start at $1.62 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
