Primped as a simple solution for implementing a buck or buck-boost topology in high-voltage LED designs, the MAX15054 high-side MOSFET driver helps designers avoid the cost and complexity of a SEPIC topology by allowing the implementation of buck and single-inductor buck-boost topologies with the output referenced to ground in single- and multi-string LED drivers. The device features a 12-ns propagation delay as well as short rise and fall times due to its 2A drive capability. A dual under-voltage lockout feature protects the device from damage in the event that the gate-drive or supply voltage is too low. Available in a six-pin, 2.9 mm x 2.8 mm SOT23 package, prices start at $0.42 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
