Kontron’s latest AMC offering targets the communication space. The conduction-cooled AM4101 AdvancedMC single-board computer (SBC) sports a 1.5-GHz Freescale dual-core MPC8641D PowerPC processor with 128-bit Altivec vector processing support (see the figure). The board has up to 2 Gbytes of 600-MHz soldered SDRAM, 2 Gbytes of NAND flash memory with error correction coding (ECC), and four gigabit Ethernet ports, with two on the front panel. The port mapping addresses telecom-specific SCOPE Alliance AMC Gap analysis with dedicated ports for PCI Express at AMC ports 4 through 7 and Serial RapidIO at AMC ports 8 through 11, allowing use in AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA platforms for telecom-specific applications. The Module Management Controller (MMC) manages the board with support for the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) amd PICMG command extensions. VxWorks and Linux support is available.
