Bittware Does DSPs

BittWare’s ATLANTiS (Advanced Transfer Link Architecture for New TigerSHARC) 2.0 architecture was at the forefront of its offerings at Bus and Board. ATLANTiS provides links between multiple DSPs and off-board connectivity. It can provide throughput in excess of 5 Gbytes/s per DSP cluster.

Its B2-AMC (see Fig. 1) packs four ADSP-TS201 DSPs onto an Advanced Mezzanine card (AMC). The B2-AMC uses Altera's Stratix II FPGA to implement ATLANTiS, which also links to the backplane to connect to an AMC’s fabric. It can support Serial RapidIO, PCI Express, Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI), Gigabit Ethernet, or XAUI. The board includes front and backpanel I/O plus an IPMI management interface. Multiple boards can be synchronized using the AMC clock system. The B2-AMC is priced at $4995.

The T2VME (see Fig. 2) doubles the power of the B2-AMC on a 6U VME/VXS board. It comes with two clusters of four 600-MHz ADSP-TS201 DSPs. Each DSP has 3 Mbytes of on-chip RAM. The board also has up to 512 Mbytes of SDRAM and 16 Mbytes of flash memory. The pair of Altera Virtex-II Pro FPGAs provide 8 Mbytes/s of bandwidth distributed across 16 ports. Eight ports are connected to the VXS/P0 connector for connection to a backplane fabric. Fabric connectivity is comparable to the B2-AMC.

The board has one PMC+ site with extensions for BittWare’s other PMC+ I/O modules. A 64-bit 66-MHz PCI interface supports the site as well.
