Self titled the industry's first "extreme rugged" computer-on-module (COM) based on a Core2 Duo processor and GME965 chipset, the COM 840 integrates a single- or dual-core processor, RAM, graphics, networking, and PCI Express expansion in a 3.7" x 4.5" module that operates in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. The module employs a 1.66-GHz Core2 Duo L7500 processor with 4 MB of L2 cache, an 800 MHz front side bus, and two SODIMM sockets supporting up to 4 GB of DDR2 RAM. Its graphics display subsystem enlists a GMA950 with 224 MB of 64-bit video RAM and can drive CRTs, flat panels, and wide-screen digital TVs at resolutions up to 2,048 x 1536 including 1,920 x 1,080 at 85 Hz (HDTV) on CRTs. An onboard video encoder adds TV-out capabilities: HDTV (420p, 720p, and 1080I), component, and S-Video.
