Low-Cost Wireless Module Addresses M2M Apps

The Mini Socket iWiFi embedded serial-to-WiFi module quickly connects embedded devices running machine-to-machine (M2M) applications to 802.11b/g wireless LANs with minimal programming. Employing the company’s iChipSec CO2128 Internet Protocol communication controller chip, the module includes a full suite of Internet protocols and applications, the latest wireless and SSL encryption algorithms, and serves as a firewall. It measures 31 mm x 41 mm with an integrated antenna connector and supports seamless roaming between access points. In deep sleep mode, power consumption is 30 mA. Additionally, the module supports 10 simultaneous TCP/UDP sockets, two listening TCP sockets, SMTP, MIME, POP3, FTP, Telnet, and HTTP/HTTPS clients, an embedded Web server with a website, and SerialNet mode for serial-to-IP bridging.
