Mellanox has combined forces with Teranetics to create the 10GBaseT ConnectX ENt, a single-chip solution for LAN on Motherboard (LOM) high-performance networking (see the figure). Teranetics adds its 10GBaseT PHY technology to the Mellanox ConnectX EN architecture.

The PCI Express Gen 2.0-based ConnectX ENt contains dual controllers with PHYs. It can drive Cat6A UTP cable for 100 m. Cat5E and Cat6 runs are less than 55 m. The chip supports RJ45 with auto negotiation. Dual-port operation draws 20 W while single-port operation draws less than 13 W.

The chip comes in a 31- by 31-mm BGA.
