Mercury Computer Shows Off XMC and Core 2 Duo AMC

The Cell processor splash last year ("Mercury Pushes Cell and VXS," ED Online #11995) is a bit hard to follow, but Mercury Computer still had some interesting systems on display at Bus and Board this year. The first was the Ecotek Series ECV4-2-2R105 (Fig. 1). This compact PMC/XMC form factor, wideband digital receiver utilizes an FPGA-based architecture that can be used in multimodule systems to implement synchronized receiver functions, such as optimized beamforming and direction-finding used in applications like radar, SIGINT, ELINT, medical imaging and communications. This version uses an AD7745 ADC that delivers a 2-channel, 14-bit, 105-MHz system.

Mercury's other product on display was the Momentum Series AXA-100 (Fig. 2) Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC). This single-board computer can handle an Intel Core Duo or Intel Core 2 Duo processor. AMC cards are used in AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA systems. The card has two SO-DIMM sockets supporting up to 4 Gbytes of 64-bit DDR2-400 SDRAM with ECC. An optional Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA can provide support for Serial RapidIO, or a 4-lane PCI Express interface plus two XAUI interfaces at 3.123 Gbits/s.
