One Stop Systems was showing off their 3U and 6U CompactPCI and CompactPCI Express expertise at the Bus and Board show (see the Figure). Their CompactPCI products are well established, and they are pushing their new CompactPCI Express products as well.

One that was recently announced is the CPCIe Carrier Board. This 6U board is designed to hold a standard PC-style PCIe board. It supports x8, x4, and x1 configurations. It is possible to plug in an x16 board but it will operate at one of the slower configurations. The 6U CPCIe Carrier Board lists for $575.

The OSS CompactPCI Express Pentium M CPU Board, priced at $3995, fits into a 3U CPCIe Type 1 system slot. It holds a 2-GHz Pentium M processor with 2 Mbytes of L2 cache plus an Intel 915 chipset. The board can have up to 2 Gbytes of DRAM, and can hold a 1.8-in PATA hard disk or Compact Flash storage. Peripheral support includes Gigabit Ethernet, a serial port, three USB 2.0 ports and PS/2 mouse/keyboard ports. The backplane interface has a 4x PCI Express interface. Passive and active cooling options are available.
