Adlink Technology is looking to put more PC/104 boards into very rugged environments with its MilSystem 800, which is an STD-MIL-38999 version of the already rugged RuffSystem 800. This conduction-cooled enclosure is dust-proof and splash-proof, and it has an operating range of –40°C to 75°C. The motherboard holds a 1.4-GHz Pentium M with 1 Gbyte of double-data-rate (DDR) memory plus a 32-Gbyte solid-state drive and a Compact Flash slot that can hold an additional 16 Gbytes. Peripherals include a 1-Gbit Etherenet and a 10/100 Ethernet port. There are four USB, four serial, PS2, audio, and video ports. External expansion is via a pair of STD-MIL-38999 connectors. Internal expansion supports up to two PC/104 cards.
