For next-gen multi-mode software defined radios, the CMX994 direct conversion receiver (DCR) allows a small RF receiver to be realized with a minimum of external components in both zero IF and low IF systems. Features include a VCO for VHF applications, frequency range of 100 MHz to 600 MHz, precision baseband filtering with selectable bandwidths, a PCB area typically less than 50% of a dual superhet, and single ended RF connections (no baluns required). Operating from a 3V to 3.6V supply, the device comes in a 40-pin VQFN package. CML MICROCIRCUITS INC., Winston-Salem, NC. (800) 638-5577.
