New Signal Chain Resources from Texas Instruments:

Communications: Ethernet Adapter Delivers 10-Gbit/s Data With iWARP Enhancements

Date Posted: December 08, 2004 12:00 AM
Author: Dave Bursky

The NetEffect NE01 Ethernet channel adapter, which fully implements the iWARP Ethernet standards, can deliver data at up to 10 Gbits/s. Its high throughput permits concurrent access to networking, storage, and clustering connectivity over existing Ethernet infrastructures. Created by the RDMA Consortium and IETF, iWARP is a series of extensions to Ethernet and TCP/IP that virtually eliminates the overhead associated with networking. As a result, the NE01 adapters deliver all of the benefits of operating-system bypass, transport offload, and RDMA, as well as support concurrent iWARP, iSER, iSCSI, and TCP/IP traffic over multiple bidirectional 10-Gbit ports with minimal latency. NE01 adapters will be available in the first quarter of 2005. Prices start at $1195 in single-unit quantities.
