In this case, BUG isn’t a pest, but a collection of electronic modules from Bug Labs that snap together to build any gadget you can imagine. Introduced at CES 2009, each BUGmodule represents a specific gadget function (for example, a camera, a keyboard, or a video output). Users decide which functions to include and BUG takes care of the rest. With BUG and the Linux-based integrated programming environment, anyone can build, program, and share innovative devices and applications.
Bug Labs announced five new modules at CES: BUGprojector, BUGsound, BUGbee, BUGwifi, and BUG3g GSM. BUGprojector is a mini DLP-based projector that can display video at any size. BUGsound has a 20-mm speaker, omnidirectional microphone, and four stereo jacks for input, output, headphones, and microphone. The BUGbee 802.15.4 module and the BUGwifi 802.11 and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR module wirelessly connects BUG devices to WLANs, PANs, headsets, and more. Finally, the BUG3g GSM module provides the ability to connect to high-speed 3G cell networks. All these new BUGmodules will be available in the first quarter of 2009.
