Improved Total Frequency Tolerance Defines Surface-Mount VCXOs

The VPLD5*T series voltage-controlled crystal oscillators (VCXOs) offer various stabilities from ±100 ppm down to 20 ppm in a surface-mount, low-profile (9 by 14 mm) package. Total tolerance is guaranteed for all types of frequency variability, including 15 years aging. Thanks to its low jitter and tight frequency tolerance, the oscillator targets phase-locked-loop circuits used in Sonet/synchronous-digital-hierarchy system applications. The VCXOs are available in frequencies from 311 to 700 MHz. Low phase noise is achieved in the higher frequencies because the design uses parametric multiplication. The VPLD5*T series VCXOs cost $90 each in 1000-unit quantities.
