Expanding the AntennaGuard SPV series low-capacitance multilayer varistors (MLVs) is a sub 0.5 pF version that reportedly minimizes signal distortion. A one-chip topology for protecting high-speed digital interface, HDMI, analog sensor, Flex Ray, GPS antenna, and RF amplifier circuit apps against ESD, the bi-directional transient voltage suppressor allegedly exhibits low capacitance and insertion loss. Specs include a sub 1-ns response time to ESD strikes and the ability to withstand 100 successive strikes at 8 kV (IEC 61000–4-2). Initial offerings include 0.47 pF/15V, 0402-size components. Typical pricing for the sub 0.5 pF component starts at $0.007 in volume. AVX CORP. Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 448-9411.
