RF Sockets Ward Off EMI

By Staff

October 08, 2008

Ready for high-performance applications, the Centurion family of RF sockets integrate full Faraday shielding, which virtually eliminates EMI leakage. The Faraday cage shields socket contacts and eliminates any coupling to circuit elements and includes a gimbal-mount heat sink rated at 10W with air cooling. In addition, an EMI gasket seals the aluminum clamshell to complete the Faraday cage. The sockets provide power-and-ground connections with approximately 0.25 nH of inductance per pin. Impedance-controlled contact pins, with a lifespan of 500,000 insertions, extend socket performance to 10 GHz. The Centurion family is available for CSP, µBGA, LGA, and QFN packages with pitches ranging from 1 mm to 0.4 mm. Operating temperature ranges from -55ºC to +150ºC. CENTIPEDE SYSTEMS, San Jose, CA.
