The updated Thermo-String temperature sensor combines an epoxy-coated, tight-tolerance chip thermistor with long, bendable wire leads ranging from 25 mm to 150 mm in 10 mm increments starting at 30 mm. The revamped sensor operates over a wide automotive temperature range from -40°C to +150°C and is suitable for temperature monitoring and protection of lithium ion batteries in hybrid electric vehicles. Additionally, its small coated sensing head is 1.6-mm thick. Thermo-String samples are available for $0.30 each. MURATA ELECTRONICS NORTH AMERICA INC., Smyrna, GA. (770) 436-1300.
