Reportedly, the company’s USB+Power and Latch-N-Lok cable assemblies find favor in the point-of-sale device market with popularity growing in control systems, medical instrumentation, test and measurement, and inventory equipment markets. The company now combines both interconnect standards into one cable to eliminate the need for a separate power source and associated ac outlets. Addressing requirements for higher power in USB devices, USB+Power adds four power contacts to the interface and provides a total of 5A of additional current-carrying capability. The Latch-N-Lok cable-to-equipment interface connects either signals or power and provides optional internal shielding and grounding for controlling EMI/ESD. Active latching on the cable plugs of both Latch-N-Lok and USB+Power cable assemblies provides positive retention while keying and color options prevent the mating of incorrect cables.
