In addition to power-management capabilities, stability, shock resistance, and a 300 degrees-per-second angular rate measurement, the LISY300AL MEMS, single-axis yaw gyroscope for angular rate sensing extends the supply voltage range from 2.7V to 3.6V and includes a selectable power-down mode. It also provides lower standby power for applications such as game controllers, intuitive pointers, vehicle or personal navigation, and image stabilization. In a 28-lead, 7 mm x 7 mm x 1.5 mm surface-mount LGA package, the device integrates a low-pass filter, dedicated IC interface, and an embedded self-test function. Samples are available now with production under way for the third quarter. Prices start at $2.50 each. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
