Providing latched digital outputs and omni-polar magnetic actuation, the A1172 Hall-effect switch comes in a four-pin wafer level chip scale package measuring 1 mm x 1 mm x 0.5 mm and operates from a supply voltage from 1.65V to 3.5V. It relies on a unique clocking algorithm to reduce average operating power consumption, i.e., consumption is less than 15 mW with a 2.75 V supply. The device provides two push-pull outputs, configured such that one output switches off in the absence of a sufficient magnetic field while the other output switches on in the absence of a magnetic field. According to the company, polarity-independence and minimal power requirements make the A1172 a viable alternative to reed switches. Price is $0.40 each/1,000.
