Poised for deployment in next-generation music phones, the AS3532 music-player subsystem integrates an audio-processing engine more common to home audio and PC sound cards to support high definition (HD) audio and to cut power consumption to less than 5 mW. Its unique audio engine and post-processor perform as co-processors to an ARM central programmable unit. The engine executes the decompression and playback of most audio formats, i.e., MP3, WMA, and AAC. The post-processor employs an asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC), a multi-channel mixer with limiting function, a 10-band graphic equalizer, and supports 192-kHz sample rates with a 24-bit dynamic range. In a 6 mm x 6 mm CTBGA package, the device also contains three I2S outputs, a stereo PDM digital microphone input, and 512 KB of buffer memory.
