Sampling now, the next-generation STi7105 high-definition video decoder adds enhancements for higher performance, lower power, and a lower bill of materials for set-top boxes and home media servers. As the latest evolution of the STi710x single-chip decoders, it supports all critical audio and video standards such as H.264, VC-1, MPEG2, and WM9 while employing the same architecture for continuity and easy migrations. Other enhancements include a DDR2 interface and unified 32-bit memory system, extensive power management, and digital noise reduction. Comprehensive development support includes source code for STAPI software drivers as well as the STi710x evaluation platform and reference design with integrated drivers and support for satellite, terrestrial, cable, and DSL demodulators. Available now in sample quantities in a 27 x 27 PBGA package, price is $15 each in large volumes. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
