Video Processor Takes On Many Formats And Apps

By Staff

October 08, 2008

Sampling as the first video processor employing Progressive Re-Processing (PReP) technology for high-definition video displays and sources, the ABT2010 performs format conversion chores in HDTVs, DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray player/recorders, AV receivers, video conferencing systems, and digital signage. It also enlists the company's Video Reference Series (VRS) 10-bit Precision Video Scaling II technique, which scales standard- and high-definition images to meet the requirements of current high-resolution displays. Another feature, Precision Deinterlacing, converts 1080i signals to 1080p using source-adaptive, five-field motion-adaptive, and edge-adaptive processing for artifact-free viewing. PReP technology, a unique processing technique, reverts the progressive video signal output from source equipment to its original interlaced format. PReP then converts the interlaced signal to a progressive format using Precision Deinterlacing to eliminate jaggies, combing, and other degrading effects. Other features of the chip include mosquito noise reduction and detail/edge enhancement. Sampling now, production quantities of the ABT2010 will be available in April.
