More than two years in development, the 10th anniversary edition of the Integrity real-time operating system (RTOS) from Green Hills Software incorporates several features that address the demanding performance and reliability requirements of complex next-generation devices. One major enhancement in Integrity 10 is support of symmetric multiprocessing, which allows the RTOS to automatically load-balance applications across multiple cores on SMP-capable processors. This allows developers to realize the performance potential of multicore architectures while maximizing software reuse. Integrity 10 also supports non-uniform memory architecture (NUMA) systems in which applications are intelligently allocated and distributed across multiple cores that have their own fast local memory.

The updated RTOS includes a new debug agent that enables debugging of application programs with minimal real-time overhead, improved performance, and excellent control and flexibility. In addition, Integrity 10 is integrated with version 5 of the Multi IDE, and includes a new project manager that makes the creation and management of even the most complex multi-process systems easy and intuitive. New kernel-awareness debugging features provide increased visibility into the kernel object state during application development. The combination of Integrity 10 and Multi 5 represent the state of the art in RTOS development tool integration, enabling developers to bring their products to market faster.

New security features include a memory resource lending capability for the secure and efficient distribution and revocation of resources. Also, a new "pure virtual" device driver model enhances Integrity's unique driver architecture to further maximize system reliability while minimizing security and safety certification costs. Integrity 10 is scheduled to be available in the current quarter. For more information, go to www.ghs.com.
