GE Fanuc Embedded Systems recently snapped up Radstone, a significant player in their market. Maintaining Radstone's cutting edge, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems announced four boards, including the 3U VPX SBC330 PowerPC 8641D-based single board computer, the SDD910 a SATA disk drive module, the PEX430 4-port, 4-lane PCI Express switch and PMC/XMC carrier card, and the 3U VPX MAGIC1 Rugged Display Processor.

The 3U VPX SBC330 (Fig. 1) is powered by a PowerPC 8641D processor. It supports an x8 PCI Express fabric interface, 2 Gbytes of memory, and a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports. The 3U VPX SDD910 (Fig. 2) solid-state memory device is designed for rugged environments (MIL-STD-810F), with SATA drive options available for benign environments. Solid-state capacity is 128 Gbytes with a sustained read speed of up to 45 Mbytes/s and a sustained write speed of up 40 Mbytes/s.

The PEX430 is a 3U VPX PMC/XMC carrier board. It also has a built-in PCI Express switch that supports 4-lane PCI Express to PCI-X bridges. In a rugged frame, the MAGIC1 (Fig. 3) combines a 2-GHz Intel Core Duo processor-based SBC340 single-board computer with the NVIDIA PCI Express-based GRA110 graphics processor. This 3U VPX platform targets embedded training, digital mapping and vehicle display applications.
