One of the many new features of MontaVista’s Carrier Grade Edition (CGE) Linux 5.1 is support for disk replication within a cluster via open-source Distributed Replicated Block Device (DRDB) software. DRDB uses high-speed network links to provide RAID-like operation in a high-availability (HA) environment. MontaVista also supports OpenSAF HA middleware, next-generation LTE/4G wireless, and Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF). Wireless enhancements include Internet Key Exchange (IKEv2) based on Strong Swan and Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) support. VRF emulates routers and routing domains, allowing server consolidation while retaining network configurations and security. CGE 5.1 complies with the CGE 4.0 specification, IPv6 certification, and Linux Standard Base 3.0. MontaVista’s Eclipse-based DevRocket supports the platform with profiling and memory leak detection.
