The latest release of VersaLogic’s Cobra EBX single-board computer (SBC) features a low-voltage, 1.0-GHz Intel Celeron-M CPU and fanless operation, so there are no moving parts. The SBC, which is RoHS compliant, combines low power consumption with high reliability and a guaranteed five-year availability. The company announced the new board at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose.

Standard on-board features include Extreme Graphics 2 video, dual 10/100 Ethernet, USB, serial communication, and analog and digital I/O ports. Specialized reliability features, such as TVS devices to protect against electrostatic discharge, a watchdog timer and CPU temperature sensor, and OEM-enhanced field-upgradeable embedded BIOS are also included. Options include conformal coating, BIOS customizations, revision locks, custom labeling, high-G shock and vibration treatment, custom testing, and screening, etc. The company will customize the board, even in low OEM quantities.

The Cobra is designed to work with embedded operating systems—including Windows CE/XP/XPe, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, DOS, and other real-time operating systems. Pricing for the EBX-12v is about $1000 in OEM quantities.
