Eight mid-power modules have been added to the Maxi dc-dc converter line from Vicor. The modules run on a 24-V dc nominal input, with an input range of 18 to 36 V. New models include a 3.3-V, 200-W version and 300-W converters with 5-, 12-, 15-, 24-, 28-, 36-, and 48-V outputs. Using the company's patented Zero-Current and Zero-Voltage Switching (ZCS/ZVS) topology, the converters greatly reduce the design effort and filtering costs needed to meet agency-conducted emission requirements. Switching frequencies to 1 MHz provide rapid transient response well suited for rf applications.
With the new converters, the 24-V-input Maxi family comprises 16 models with output voltages from 3.3 to 48 V and power capacities from 200 to 400 W. Efficiencies range up to 88% for the higher output voltages. The converters are available in five different environmental grades, with six pin options, and three baseplate options. They can be configured in any combination in Vicor's Custom Module Design System. The converters are available in RoHS-compliant versions. They measure 4.6 by 2.2 by 0.5 in. with a height above board of 0.43 in.
