Reportedly minimizing space and system costs, the UCC28610 off-line green mode pulse width modulation (PWM) controller achieves efficiency levels of 85% at full load. It uses 30% fewer external components than standard flyback controllers and handles apps with an output power range from 15W to 65W. Other features include a no-load power consumption of 125 mW and over-current and overload protection. Available in an eight-pin SOIC, price is $0.44 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
