Linear Regulator Consumes Just 13 µA Of Quiescent Current

By Staff

October 08, 2008

The MAX16999 is a low-output-voltage linear regulator capable of delivering up to 100 mA for always-on applications. It’s designed as a parallel supply for powering the core or interrupt section of a microcontroller during sleep mode, and consumes just 13 µA of quiescent current. An enable input can place the regulator in shutdown so it consumes only 0.3 µA. Thirteen factory-preset output voltages range from 0.5 to 3.3 V. In addition, the MAX16999 eliminates the need for external feedback resistors. Designed for harsh operating environments, it features overcurrent and overtemperature protection, and power-on-reset circuitry with adjustable timing. The device operates over the -40 to +125ºC automotive temperature range, and is available in a thermally enhanced, 8-pin microMAX package. Prices start at $0.70 in 1000-unit quantities.
