The SWT Series of RoHS-compliant sealed tactile switches from BI Technologies, TT electronics' Electronics Component Division, come in multiple sizes, as well as in surface-mount and through-hole configurations (see the Figure). The switches feature multiple actuation forces and life cycles of up to 1 million rotations. Their versatility makes them suitable for a wide variety of applications, including white goods, medical devices, information appliances, automotive, and entertainment equipment.

All of the devices have a contact resistance of 100 mΩ and insulation resistance of 100 MΩ. Dielectric strength is 250 V, and operating temperature range is -20°C to 70°C. BI Technologies can also produce devices to meet specific customer requirements. Typical prices for the tactile switches are $0.06 to $0.15 depending on quantity. Lead times are from stock to four weeks. For the specifics on the types of switches available, visit www.bitechnologies.com/pdfs/BI452.pdf.
